Lakshagraha is believed to be the site of the famous 'House of Lac' mentioned in the Mahabharata, where the Kauravas planned to burn the Pandavas alive.

Mythological Story

According to the epic Mahabharata, Duryodhana and his uncle Shakuni planned a conspiracy to kill the Pandavas.

They built a palace made of lac (wax and flammable materials) in order to burn it and trap the Pandavas inside.

Escape of the Pandavas

Vidura secretly warned the Pandavas about the dangerous plan.

They escaped through an underground tunnel before the palace was set on fire, saving their lives.

Hastinapur is located about 35 km from Meerut city in Uttar Pradesh.

It attracts history lovers, pilgrims, and devotees interested in Mahabharata history.

Present Day Site
